September is the month I was born. For my birthday normally Franz would make me a cake and supper. Well, he ended up sick for two weeks, going through every symptom of an illness there is, I think. It happened to be around my birthday, so I made myself a whole wheat buttermilk cake, with butter cream frosting. Breakfast I made nectarine cinnamon muffins. Then I decided I didn't want to cook for the rest of the day, so we had Braums burgers for lunch, and iFratelli pizza and salad for supper.

I was at the point in pregnancy where I was starting to finally have an appetite and feel good and energized. I felt a little guilty that Franz was feeling so poorly. But I look at it as God blessing me with good health so I could take care of the boys, and try to help Franz feel better. Thankfully the boys were pretty free of any illness.

This is the month we butchered our one remaining meat chicken, who we called Big Billy Bob. He was remarkably able to still get around even though he was the size of a small turkey. Every morning we had to go out early and rescue him from the crabby hens, who would start pecking and attacking him. We placed him in the tractor pen that Franz built purposefully for separating chickens when needed. So Big Billy Bobs day consisted of being rescued, placed in a pen where he ate and drank all day, then going to sleep in the coop for the night. He was even starting to crow at Larry and the hens in the coop, feeling his size or something. We kinda felt bad butchering, but not enough to actually keep him. We decided he would be for Thanksgiving...
At the end of the month Clement and I flew to Alaska, to spend time with the Martyn's. My sister was due mid October, Clement and I were going to help out. Wrangell my sisters little guy, who is also my godchild is five months older than Clement. The two cousins played very well together and still talk about each other. Clement and I really enjoyed our time, and I think they did too. The hardest part was being away for 8 nights. Cyprian stayed in Texas with Franz,. I had only been away from Cyprian one night, and that was the night I was in labor with Clement. So, I was a bit anxious about how we would do apart. Cyprian did lots of hanging out with Daddy, watching spiderman, and being watched by some friends, going to the state fair, riding in the bike seat while Daddy biked with his cross country boys, etc. When I saw him at the airport, he glared at me and looked accusingly at me. Thankfully he got over it quick. Though for several weeks he kept a close eye me and would sometimes come running from his room exclaiming, "Mommy where are you."
I have to stop because I am really getting into October, which will be the next post....
