Well I left off on our travels back to Texas. So it would be January 11th, we stopped in Pryor OK to stay at a hotel. Franz searched online to see what time masses were and where. He happened to come across a sight for Clear Creek Abby. It was about 3o miles from Pryor and in the middle of nowhere. We thought it would be an adventure.
Lo and behold it turned out to be more of an adventure than we were anticipating. Franz looked at google maps and noticed that they had you head south a ways then cut east and then back up north. So, he decided to make his own directions more direct to the location. It all went well while traveling on the turnpike, but shortly after that we were on a pretty lonely highway looking for a Jericho road. The roads also were numbered. None of the numbers Franz wrote were matching up. We happened to pass a building that was off the highway with a Jericho Co. sign. We guessed maybe this was the road. At first the road was gravel and then it turned into dirt. Meanwhile we were winding around further and further from civilization. We came upon a stream that you literally had to ford. Thankfully it was shallow. I was to the point of being very concerned about ever getting out of nowhere land, when suddenly some of the road numbers started to match.
We came upon the abby from the back and it was so totally worth it. The beauty of being in a holy and secluded dwelling with country surrounding it is amazing. It really is in the wild, but they are building and working on it. It is not small and we also thankfully set out with lots of extra time so we were not late for mass. It would be a lovely place for a retreat for meditation and reflection. God works in mysterious ways, he led us on even when I was afraid we were really lost.
We then made it back to our Texas home on the 12th in the early evening. I am always so glad to get out of the car and be able to stretch. Franz and Cyprian share my sentiment. It is a 1000 miles from Wisconsin to Texas.
We got back into a schedule after having a week to get settled back into Texas living. Cyprian and I started going back to play group, bookclub, etc. Cyprian by this time was walking and running all over.
On the 29th we celebrated Cyprians 1st birthday in the morning with all the kids at playgroup. I made a lazy daisy cake with chocolate frosting that we lit some candles on and helped Cyprian to blow the candles out. That evening I made pizza and another cake, Hawaiian, and we had the Lindley's over for dinner. Cyprian got to open his present from us which was a real piano, its has only 25 keys, is bright red, made of wood, and is minature so that he can kneel at it and play. The Lindley's gave him a fun farm animals book. Which I am now using to try and teach him his animals.
Here is a jump in topic...
Next day I decided to take a pregnancy test, I had been feeling pregnant for awhile now. The test said positive, we were very excited. On the 4th of February I started to bleed. I worried that I was miscarrying. As I did research I found out that quite a few women can bleed throughout pregnancy's and still carry to term and have healthy babies. So I was hopeful, I hadn't had any extreme pain, just some lower back pain. To be on the safe side we decided I should go in to be checked, so on the 10th I went and saw a OB. He gave me the sad news after doing a sonogram, telling me I had an ectopic pregnancy(tubal pregnancy). I was in shock and sad. The doctor told us that the baby's heart was not beating and had probably stopped a few days before. I was seven and a half weeks along. He gave me two options, one to have surgery and remove the tube, or two have a shot of Methothorate to dissolve the baby back into my body. We decided because the baby was already dead to go with the shot. The shot can give you a higher chance of fertility so long as the tube is not damaged. The unfortunate thing was the doctor forgot to inform me that I could not breastfeed. Cyprian at this point was still nursing a lot. Thankfully my sisters and Mom questioned me if I could nurse after having the shot, and we found out from a pharmacist that I shouldn't nurse for a week. Thank God I hadn't nursed Cyprian after having the shot. The pharmacist said I could pump and dump, and then try to go back to nursing. Cyprian would not nurse, so he pretty much quit nursing cold turkey.
Since he has had a double ear infection and the stomach flu. I would encourage mothers to nurse their babies till at least a year and a half. Thankfully he recovers real quick and has not had any lasting illness. I think it is the vitamins I am giving him. SHAKLEE!!! Oh and I also couldn't take vitamins so my body was going through a lot. The methothorate is a drug that is used in treating chemo cancer patients. It is a much smaller dose though. I had to deal with pregnancy hormones while trying to deal with the fact we would not get to see our little baby. We named our babe Cosmas James Klein. Cosmas is the patron saint of what would have been the due date. I just found out that he is the patron saint of pharmacist, I did not know this when we picked the name. I think is neat and God helped us pick a good name for our little angel, especially since I had a strong drug put into my body. I hate to use any medicine or drugs, but I believe Cosmas is watching over me.
We are hopeful for future babies and are praying to little Cosmas to intercede for us for healthy pregnancies. I will conclude for tonight with a little prayer to my baby angel.
